Port of Rotterdam

Heat lines are constructed between Shell and Hoogvliet. Shell, a heat company in Rotterdam and the Port of Rotterdam join hands in the realisation of the Project Vondelingenwarmte. Objective: To improve energy efficiency. The use of residual heat, which is released at the Shell Pernis refinery, will soon allow 16,000 households to be heated in a sustainable manner. The project is the basis for the first so-called company specific agreement. It is a branch of the already landscaped “new Heat Road” on the spot of Shell Pernis, located on the Vondelingenweg. For this project, a pipeline for transporting residual heat from Shell has been connected to the main piping structure of the ‘new Heat Road’.
